TRIP TO MY LOCAL AUCTION

Where did I go? Okay... let me tell you!

This past Tuesday evening I went to my local auction house.
Every so often I just can`t resist the temptation... and I must go for a browse!
Although a browse normally ends up with me ending up spending some £££`s.
There were quite a few treasures that I would have loved to buy!
Which is always the case!:)
Although lack of funds and space... makes it impossible!
And what has caught my eye this time? You may ask!
 ...
This solid Victorian chest of draws...
Sold for £35.00
I would love to have the space in my home for it!
How lovely it would look if painted with Farrow & Ball - French grey?
The glass cabinet below...
Was another great buy to someone at only £15.00.
Again I would paint it and if I had a bigger bathroom,
I would used it to display my perfume bottles.
Guess what?
I won the wooden trolley for £10.00.
And I just couldn`t resist the big glass cabinet that I bought £60.00.
I`m really pleased with it, since its such good quality!
They will both have a make-over...
The tall shelves at the back would be great to store fabrics in the craft room,
fluffy towels in the bathroom or even vases with plants in the garden/conservatory.
Someone paid £5.00 for it.
I also won the big blanket box... For £10.00.
Yep! The blanket box does look... should we say politely very ugly?
But I`m quite optimistic that with a bit of t.l.c and will be unrecognizable.
And I had my eye on the old oak table.
But the owner had a reserve of £300.00! Ouch...
Although the auctioneer drop the price to £100.00, and still no one was interested!
I`m very tempted as it would be ideal for my kitchen, that we are planning to do next year.
But until then, we have nowhere to store it. So sadly it will be a NO for us!
The oak dresser sold for £50.00!
I love it... but sadly again no space for it!
The smaller glass cabinet sold for £10.00.
Great for displaying your collectibles, and better still keeping them dust free.
I got on a bidding war with the item below...
Lovely old iron gate.
The asking price was £30.00.
But I ended up paying £42.00.
I`m hoping to display it in my very small guest bedroom wall...
Fingers crossed it will make a nice feature!
Lovely vintage wicker chairs,
some lucky buyer paid only £10.00 for the pair!
I really wanted this Victorian mangle.
Unfortunately when I got there was already sold.
For only £15.00!
I had plans to displayed it in my garden with a couple of small pots,
with trailing petunia and ivy...
Never mind. It just wasn`t suppose to be!:)
More lovely pieces of furniture waiting for a make-over...
I bought the zinc tubs below for £20.00 each!
And the watering can £8.00.
Two other people were interested,
so I paid £5.00 more than the ones that I got at the salvage yard.
The pretty gilded triple mirror, was £20.00 and still no one bought it!
Shame... again I have nowhere to put it!
I did got carried away and paid far more than what I should for the iron letter box.
Specially since I don`t like the front design and its not even vintage...
And to be honest, I don`t even need it!
I have been a very bad girl buying it... I know! Naughty Debbie!:)
...
The lovely vintage pic-nic set went for only £10.00.
The starting asking price was £40.00!
No I was good this time! Someone else bought it!:)
There were 3 lots of 17 designer perfumes... also for grabs!
Two lots went for £60.00 and another for £90.00.
They would make lovely gifts?
Although if they were mine... I would keep them all for myself!:)
I`m sad for not buying this lovely beaded Victorian sewing box for £20.00!
It is still there for next week!
I know... the next Victorian item gives me the creeps too!:)
Although I had intentions to buy it, if the price was right!!!
I would definitely remove "that freaky snake" and display something else?
Sold for £25.00.
A lot more that I would like to pay for it.
So it was a no! No!
This vintage cradle would also look lovely in the garden, with plants...
Sold for £6.00.
The lovely hand carved Victorian child chair sold for £40.00.
The horse puppet caused a bidding war and sold for £28.00.
And so did this one below, which sold for £65.00.
I wanted this big size biscuit tin.
Ideal for storing my garden bulbs for next year.
Someone was lucky to buy it for £10.00!
But I won the charming wooden Cadbury`s box...
I just fell in love with the gorgeous graphic...
Paid £5.00 for it.
And comes complete with a cute Jacob`s crackers tin.
Not bad at all!
Job lots of jewellery always do well at auctions!
There were 3 lots and they sold for £28.00 / £50.00 / and £74.00.
I was very surprised, since most of them was just tat!
I think I`m tempted to start buying jewellery at car boots to sell at the auction!:)
I guess there`s quite a few jewellery crafts out there...
Hence the demand!
The lovely shape 3 piece salon suite is now mine!
Yuppie!
Just hope that me and hubby will be able to do it justice,
when restoring it to its former glory!
Price- £10.00!
My best bargain, indeed!
Enough now... Are you still with me!
I don`t blame you, if I bored you to bits!:)
...
Sorry! I didn`t meant to drag about how much I spent or how much some of the stuff sold for!
My intention is to give you an idea, and for you to decide, either auctions are worth going...
When I had my website business I found that buying at auctions was a must!
Specially since you can buy boxes of pretty bone china for as little as £3.00!
Although you must not get carried away...
Which I have in the past and it seems that I still do!:)
And silly me, in some occasions I ended up in bidding wars...
In which sometimes I have end up paying more than the item was worth!

TODAY I`M DREAMING OF...
MY NEW/OLD TREASURES ARE BEING DELIVERED TOMORROW.
AND I`M HOPING THAT THE NEW MAKE-OVER WILL DO THEM JUSTICE!
...
I`m leaving you with photos of a little last minute project that I`ve made today,
for Jodie-lee and Daniel to give to their school...
Hopefully it will help to raise some much needed funds tomorrow,
on their annual school Summer fair!
I`m off now to wrap them in clear film.
Hope that the mummy`s will like them!
